Dialysis Centres - Free Treatment for ESRD Patients

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is rampant in many parts of our country and is mostly observed in backward areas, where the people are not having access to safe drinking water and balanced nutritious diet.

Dialysis is essential for patients suffering from "End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)" and it is observed that the prevalence of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), the precursor to ESRD is 0.8% in India.

The cost for undergoing dialysis for patients suffering from ESRD is very high, ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 40,000 per month including the cost of medicines. The CKD patients from the low income groups are not able to take up the cost of the dialysis so that they are losing their near and dears. Also these patients are finding very difficult to go to dialysis centres which are very far from their places. Considering hardships faced by the people Virchow Foundation has come forward to support the people for free dialysis treatment.
